In March of 2003, Bulgarian natives Stoyan and Lillyana Zahanov (Stoby and Lilly to their friends) opened Sorrento. A unique restaurant that has blossomed into one of the classiest dining establishments in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. The restaurant aims to cater to everyone, both with food and amenities, providing a wide range of dishes and seating options; classic dining area, cozy and comfortable living room setting, lounge with bar, and two screened outdoor patios. All made private by surrounding trees.
We have something for everyone, whether they’re a child, student, or Prime Minister.
Though Stoyan passed away in June of 2013, Sorrento lives on and maintains his original vision. Lilly and her son Steven, who specialize in human resources and marketing respectively, now run the restaurant 7 days a week.
Since its opening in 2003, Sorrento has been recognized as one of the best places to eat in Canada nearly every year. Their success surely lies in the quality of their food and atmosphere, but also in the support of their patrons.
Our customers aren’t here because of us. We’re here because of our customers.
Keeping its customers in mind, Sorrento offers menu options to suit everyone, regardless of preference or dietary restriction. With alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, gluten-free food options, and a selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes, there is certainly something for everyone. All ingredients are also prepared fresh each day, and purchased locally when possible.
In addition to their food being local, Sorrento also features local art and entertainment. The walls are lined with local artwork, and local musicians often perform at catered events. Musicians include Daniel Payne, Louis MacDonald, and Heather Tuach.
